Overview of our hospital beds

We offer fully electric hospital beds; these beds improve in-home patient care. The controls for moving the bead, foot, and height of the bed are fairly intuitive, allowing users to easily make adjustments to  maximize recovery and relaxation.

These beds are fully designed for in-home use, are simple to maintain, and feature robust, steady construction. The low gloss finish blends in seamlessly with any décor choices in your home. In total, most beds support up to 450 pounds.

Rental hospital bed specifications

What are the measurements/ size of the hospital beds we have for rent? Here are some details on the hospital beds that we stock for rental:

Bed height: Beds are between 16 – 18 inches high, off the ground. The bed rails are higher, of course, but the sleeping surface of the bed is 16 – 18 inches off the ground. Fully electric beds can also raise the sleeping surface as needed, to make it easier for caregivers. At the highest height, the raisable bed platform goes up to approximately 25 inches.

Bed length: Fully assembled, the hospital bed will be approximately 90 inches long. This bed length is sufficient to accommodate 90% of hospital bed users. Most of our beds can disassemble to about half of that length, for easier transportation.

Width: Our hospital beds are approximately 36 inches wide. This width is suitable for the vast majority of rental use cases. If you have a need for a larger width, give us a call. We can also arrange for beds that are wider (bariatric sizing) to accommodate your specific needs.

Weight limit: Our main hospital beds can accommodate up to 275 pounds or so. Over this limit, it is likely going to be more comfortable to get a more sturdy or heavy duty bed, more than likely in bariatric sizing.

When is a hospital bed required?

Hospital beds are ideal or required when a person requires a bed that is adjustable. This level of care and adjustability provides assistance with moving, or when a person needs to be able to be better reached by a caregiver, or when it will be important to be able to put a patient in certain positions. When a person will needs to spend a lot of time in bed recovering, it is useful to be able to raise up into a seated position, or even to elevate the legs. This can be both for comfort (as in a change of position), and also for medical purposes that require elevation of. part of the body. This can be useful when a person has limited ability or strength to make some types of body raises or movements.

In addition to being adjustable, patient beds are designed with safety in mind. Ordinary beds can be elaborate, designed without any particular safety needs in mind. A medical bed, on the other hand, is designed with safety in mind. The first safety feature you may think of are railings. These ensure that a person does not fall out of the bed.

In short, a medical bed is required when it will be beneficial or necessary to have an adjustable bed (to facilitate efficient care and recovery), and also when safety is a concern.

What should I know before I buy a used medical bed?

We will list a few things here; each of them almost deserves its own separate article, though. Before you buy a used hospital bed, think about things like:

  1. Delivery and set up: Does the company you are buying from offer delivery and set up, or will you be on your own when it comes to getting the bed in your space, set up, and ready to use?
  2. Condition of the bed: Be sure to inspect the bed for any signs of damage, such as cracks, rust, or worn-out, creaky mechanical parts. Ensure the bed frame, motor, and moving components are in good operating condition.
  3. Do you need manual, or electric? Consider whether a manual bed (operated by turning hand cranks) or an electric bed (operated via a remote, bed plugged in to the wall socket) better suits your recovery needs. Electric beds provide easier operating with smooth adjustments, but can be slightly more expensive. Also, determine how adjustable the bed is in terms of height, head, and foot positions. Fully adjustable beds are generally more versatile to meet specific recovery needs.
  4. Cleanliness and sanitation: In all cases, the bed should be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. Ensure the seller has taken proper care in disinfecting all parts of the bed, seen and unseen. Even if the bed frame is pre-owned, you may want to purchase a new mattress to maintain hygiene and give you peace of mind.

These are the main areas that should cover off 90% of the things that could possibly go wrong when you buy a pre-owned or open box medical bed. We created a multi-point safety inspection system that addresses these issues, and more. Anything we sell has gone through this system, and functions equally to a new bed.  Make sure your hospital bed vendor can offer you the same guarantees

Can I feel confident buying a second hand medical bed?

Absolutely. We offer a “like new” experience with our beds, and give you many of the same guarantees that you get when you buy a new bed. We’ve basically removed every barrier to the use of our certified bed frames, so there is no way you can have anything less than a great experience:

  1. Steadyframe Guarantee & Warranty: We guarantee every single bed frame we sell; if it doesn’t work, we replace it, at to charge, simple as that. You cannot get any guarantees when you buy a bed on Kijiji, Facebook Marketplace, or any other online platform where people flog their used items. oes the company you are buying from offer delivery and set up, or will you be on your own when it comes to getting the bed in your space, set up, and ready to use?
  2. Delivery, set up, and training: Our technicians will visit your location, and set up your bed in the desired spot. In addition, they will spend the necessary time with you, to ensure that you are properly trained on how to operate and maintain the equipment.
  3. Easy decision making and expert advice: Our goal is to ensure that you have the information and recommendations you need. We aren’t just selling beds; we are product experts that you can trust to make sure your equipment works the way it should, the first time.
  4. Get all the items you need in one place: Before you buy a bed on an online marketplace, ask yourself: Does the seller have EVERYTHING I need? Sometimes it’s not just about the bed. You’ll still sometimes want a convenient overbed table, as well as a brand new mattress, or an IV holder. We not only sell used beds, we have access to new accessories through our relationships with equipment manufacturers. You can get the perfect combination of used and new items that meets your needs perfectly.

Regardless of where you choose to buy a refurbished bed frame, as long as you can take the above points into consideration, you will be in a better position to come out ahead. Consider shopping with us to get the “like new” shopping experience with favourable pricing.
